Located just outside the walls of the world famous Kew Gardens, in Kew, West London – this unique bed & breakfast makes the perfect accommodation when visiting London.

With it’s own entrance ‘Vintage Lodgings’ is located above the historic ‘Original Maids of Honour’ shop and restaurant, where they have been baking and serving cream teas for over 120 years.  It’s here that breakfast is served from 9am weekdays and 8:30am weekends to noon (if you’d like a lie in!)

Vintage Lodgings is a self-catering studio apartment individually designed in a retro 1930’s style, complete with authentic décor and furnishings. Staying here is a quintessentially English experience. Other unique details include a luxurious roll top bath, fresh linen and towels –  and delicious breakfasts and lunches served downstairs in the world famous ‘The Original Maids of Honour’ restaurant and bakery.

The ‘Original Maids of Honour’ boasts a history almost as long and colourful as the area that surrounds it. Established in 1837, the original Victorian building was bombed in World War 2 and rebuilt in the 1940s. Today, the newly refurbished rooms in the original family quarters now serve as boutique accommodation for traditional British holiday break with style.  More information about The Original Maids of Honour is here.

Staying With Us at The Original Maids of Honour…

  • Your stay includes in the price a welcome Cream Tea or equivalent on arrival and one of our famous ‘Original Maids of Honour’ tarts in our historic tea room (or in the apartment) and our full breakfast menu (English and Continental fare) in the morning or we allow you to swap it for a packed lunch, picnic or supper left in your room.
  • You will be well looked-after by us here at ‘Maids’, but equally you won’t feel like you are staying in a ‘stranger’s house’.
  • Our 3 suites are self-contained on the first floor where the old family quarters and apartments span the first floor of the original 280 year-old part of our buildings.
  • We are directly opposite the Cumberland Gate entrance to Kew Gardens (now closed), 500 metres from the main gate on Kew Road; a few minutes from Kew Village and Station.
  • We are believed to be the oldest tea room with original onsite bakery in the country, having been here in Kew Rd since 1868 and in George & King St, Richmond since 1850.
  • Stays for ‘accommodation-only’ are also possible for all of our suites – please ask if this applies to your stay
  • Guests are able to have a special discount of 15% which can be redeemed with any purchase in our shop or restaurant during their stay.
  • Wi-Fi is available free of charge (where signal permits; we cannot always guarantee it).
  • All high-quality and professionally-laundered cotton towels, flannels and bedlinens are provided.
  • Our staff will attend once a day to replenish beverages and other consumable items (fresh milk is provided daily for tea and coffee making), make the beds, change towels, flannels and tea-towels (if required). Stays of 4 nights or longer will have full bedlinen changes on Day 4 and every 4 days thereafter unless requested otherwise by guests.
  • We pride ourselves on our old-fashioned service, immaculate cleanliness and housekeeping in our little ‘boutique’ hotel.
  • Check-in time is usually 3pm and check-out 12 midday. If you need to arrive earlier, this is no problem as you can leave your luggage with us at Maids of Honour, collect your keys and when you return your luggage will be in your room. We are personally available at Maids of Honour up to 6.30pm for check-ins and key collection. After 6.30pm, keys may be collected from the secure box adjacent to the main entrance (the code will be given to guests prior to arrival).
